Cultural
At St Francis Catholic School, students will use their God-given ability to learn to communicate in an additional language, develop their capacity to learn further languages, and explore different world views in relation to their own.
Te reo Maori, the indigenous language of New Zealand, is a taonga and protected under the Treaty of Waitangi. Therefore at St Francis Catholic School Te Reo Maori will be the focus.
Students will be given the opportunity to learn Te Reo and Tikanga Maori and communicate this understanding with others, while demonstrating an awareness of the school’s Catholic Character.
Through the learning of Te Reo Maori, all students at our School will be encouraged to have pride in their origins, language and culture.
