The purpose of the Friends of St Francis
The Friends of St Francis is open to all family, friends, caregivers and teachers of St Francis Catholic School. Our purpose is two-fold, to:
To fundraise: We commit to clear goals, so our community understand why we’re fundraising and how the money will be spent. We plan to deliver projects of substantial value aligned with the strategic objectives of the school.
To build community within our school: We organise social events for children and caregivers. We become friends through coming to meetings and helping to organise various activities.
What we do
Currently, we’re fundraising for and delivering a five-year plan for development of the field into ‘natural’ areas for play and outdoor teaching. In 2019, we have completed the first two phases – revegetation and a swing bridge and deck.
How we do it
Some of the things we’ve organised are:
- Wine and Food Festival (every two years)
- Major raffle (every two years)
- Second hand uniform donations and sales
- Sausage sizzles
- Morning teas
- Class family get togethers
- Discos for kids
- Discos for parents
- Quiz night
- School picnic dinner
We meet on the second Monday of most months (school holidays aside) in the Whanau Room at school. Everyone is welcome – please come along.
